Manufacturing & Assembly Engineer – Principal

About the Role

Astra CoreX, Inc. (ACX) is seeking a Principal Manufacturing & Assembly Engineer to lead and develop manufacturing processes and assembly methods that transition ACX designs into reliable, repeatable, mass-producible solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build the Manufacturing & Assembly division within the Engineering Team of ACX.
  • Develop manufacturing plans to build vehicle subsystems and complete launch vehicles.
  • Design and procure tooling and fixtures for prototyping and high-quantity manufacturing.
  • Support prototype builds and development test campaigns.
  • Coordinate with suppliers and implement a supplier management system.
  • Develop and implement quality management plans.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s in Manufacturing, Mechanical, or Aerospace Engineering.
  • 10+ years of experience in aerospace manufacturing.
  • Strong familiarity with GD&T for high-precision aerospace parts.
  • Strong background in developing or procuring production tooling.
  • Familiarity with DFX (Manufacturing, Testing, Quality, etc.).
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • U.S. citizen with eligibility for government security clearance.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience building aerospace production systems for high-rate or prototype-to-production transitions.
  • Familiarity with AS9100 quality systems, supplier management, and production-readiness reviews.
  • Background in composite assembly, fastener installation, bonding, and high-precision fabrication operations.
  • Hands-on experience with large-scale tool design, process validation, and operator training programs.
