Chief Strategy Officer

About the Role

Astra CoreX, Inc. (ACX) is seeking a Director of Strategy & Business Development to lead organizational growth, capture government and defense funding, and align technical capabilities with market opportunities. You will develop strategic partnerships, pursue SBIR/STTR, OTA, DoW contracts, and manage relationships across the aerospace ecosystem.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute business strategies to grow revenue and secure government funding.
  • Identify, evaluate, and pursue partnering and funding opportunities including SBIR, STTR, OTA, DPA Title III, CRADAs, and DARPA/Army/Air Force/ONR/Space Force/Missile Defense Agency solicitations.
  • Lead proposal development, including win themes, storyboards, capture plans, proposal writing, and pricing strategy.
  • Build strategic relationships with government program offices, primes, and downstream partners.
  • Serve as ACX’s interface to government stakeholders, industry partners, and advisory councils.
  • Track funding landscapes, policy shifts, and defense modernization priorities.
  • Support investor relations and executive leadership with market insights, competitor analysis, and strategic recommendations.
  • Coordinate with engineering leads to translate technical capabilities into compelling proposals.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Public Policy, or another relevant field.
  • 7+ years of experience in business development, capture management, or strategic planning in defense or aerospace with strong connections with AFRL and DEVCOM AvMC.
  • Detailed experience with U.S. government funding mechanisms including SBIR, STTR, OTA, FAR/DFARS, and related programs.
  • Proven track record capturing government contracts and grants and winning proposals.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to rapidly translate complex technical concepts into proposal narratives and strategic value propositions.
  • U.S. citizen with eligibility for government security clearance.

Preferred Qualifications

  • MBA or advanced degree in strategy, business, public policy, or a technical discipline.
  • Experience leading capture strategy for defense primes, government programs, or dual-use aerospace startups.
  • Prior success with SBIR/STTR, OTA, DPA Title III, or other innovative acquisition pathways.
  • Strong understanding of defense modernization trends, emerging mission areas, and investor or strategic partner ecosystems.
